IBBFA Credential Maintenance

Maintain Your Active Status

Your certification never expires — but your Active standing is what keeps you visible to studios, employers, and clients across both ibbfa.org and BarreWorkout.com.

What Active Status Includes

Active standing powers your professional visibility — your profiles, your verification status, your access to the hire and substitute network, and your continuing education.

ibbfa.org Professional Profile

Your credential, specialties, location, photo, and bio — visible to studios and employers searching the IBBFA directory. Includes proxy contact form so you control who reaches you.

BarreWorkout.com Consumer Profile

A separate, client-facing profile on BarreWorkout.com where consumers find local barre instructors. Includes your class formats, pricing, schedule, and booking link.

Hire & Substitute Network

Mark yourself as available for hire or substitute teaching. Studios searching for instructors in your area see your availability badge — and can reach you directly or through IBBFA's free matching service.

How studios find you →

Live Webinar Access

Attend recurring technique sessions, biomechanics Q&A, and exam prep — in English and Spanish. Two webinars per year satisfy your annual maintenance requirement.

Video Library & Quiz

Ongoing access to technique refreshers, continuing education materials, and the Recertification Quiz — a fast, flexible alternative to webinar attendance for your annual maintenance.

Two profiles, one renewal. Your $99/year Active status powers both your ibbfa.org professional profile (for studios and employers) and your BarreWorkout.com consumer profile (for clients finding local instructors). Lapsed instructors lose visibility on both platforms.

Two Profiles, Two Audiences

Active status gives you a professional presence on two platforms — each reaching the audience that matters for your career.

Professional Network

ibbfa.org/directory

  • Credential level, specialties, and Active status displayed
  • Photo, bio, and location searchable by city and country
  • Proxy contact form — your email stays private
  • "Open to Hire" and "Available as Substitute" badges
  • Linked to studio profiles if you're on staff
  • Publicly verifiable at ibbfa.org/verify

How to Stay Active Each Year

Renew ($99/year) and complete either maintenance option below.

Option A

Recertification Quiz

The fastest path. Complete the quiz online, at your own pace, any time during your renewal year.

1. Renew Active status ($99/year)
2. Complete the Recertification Quiz
3. Once recorded — Active for the year
Option B

Attend 2 Live Webinars

Stay current through live technique and Q&A sessions — and stay connected to the instructor community.

1. Renew Active status ($99/year)
2. Attend any two live webinars during the year
3. Once attendance is recorded — Active for the year
Simple rule: Renew ($99/year) + Quiz or 2 webinars = Active for the year.
Lock Your Rate

Auto-Renewal Price Guarantee

Set up auto-renewal and your current rate is locked permanently — even as list prices adjust in future years. Cancel anytime, but your locked rate is only available while auto-renewal remains active.

Your rate stays the same. Forever. As long as you stay active.

Year 1 (2026) Auto: $99 Manual: $99
Year 3 (2028) Auto: $99 Manual: $119

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the $99/year renewal begin?
After your included Active period ends — 2 years from enrollment for CBI, 3 years for Principal Instructor. If you're unsure of your timeline, check your standing and expiration date at ibbfa.org/verify.
Do I need to re-take the certification exam if I'm lapsed?
No. Your credential remains on record. Renewing restores your Active standing once you complete the annual maintenance requirement — the Recertification Quiz or attendance at two live webinars. No re-examination required.
What's the difference between my ibbfa.org and BarreWorkout.com profiles?
Your ibbfa.org profile is your professional profile — seen by studios, employers, and hiring managers. It shows your credential level, specialties, and verification status. Your BarreWorkout.com profile is your consumer profile — seen by clients looking for local barre classes. It shows your class formats, pricing, schedule, and booking link. Both are powered by your Active status and both go dark if your status lapses.
How do I update my profile information?
Go to ibbfa.org/directory/login and enter the email you used when you enrolled. You'll receive a secure edit link to update your photo, bio, location, availability status, class formats, and contact preferences. Changes sync to both your ibbfa.org and BarreWorkout.com profiles.
What do studios and employers check when they verify my credential?
They check your credential level (CBI, Principal Instructor, etc.) and your current standing — Active or Lapsed — via the public verification page at ibbfa.org/verify. No contact with IBBFA required on their end. Studios also use the free matching service to find instructors — only Active instructors are included in matches.
How does the hire and substitute network work?
In your profile settings, you can toggle "Available for Hire" and "Available as Substitute." When enabled, these show as badges on your ibbfa.org profile and you appear in filtered directory searches. Studios can also submit hiring requests through IBBFA's free matching service — only Active instructors with matching availability are contacted.
Can I renew before my included period ends?
Yes — renewing early ensures no gap in Active standing. Contact us if you have questions about your specific renewal date.
How do webinars count toward my annual maintenance?
Attend any two live webinars during your renewal year. Attendance is recorded automatically. Once confirmed, your Active status is maintained for the year. View the schedule at ibbfa.org/events.
What happens if I miss a year of renewal?
Your standing becomes Lapsed, but your credential remains on record. Your profiles on ibbfa.org and BarreWorkout.com stop appearing in searches, and your hire/substitute badges are removed. Starting September 1, 2026, reactivation after a lapse carries an additional fee based on time elapsed ($149 for 3–12 months, $199 for 13–24 months, $249 for 25+ months). You can avoid this entirely by renewing before your expiration date or setting up auto-renewal.
How does the auto-renewal price-lock work?
When you set up auto-renewal, your current rate is locked for as long as auto-renewal remains active and uninterrupted. Even if the list price increases in future years, your rate stays the same. If you cancel auto-renewal and later return, you'll pay whatever the current list price is at that time, plus any applicable reactivation fee. The price-lock reward is designed to recognize instructors who maintain continuous Active standing.
I'm currently lapsed — is there a grace period?
Yes. Through August 31, 2026, all reactivations are at the standard $99/year rate regardless of how long your status has been lapsed — no reactivation fees. Starting September 1, 2026, the tiered reactivation schedule takes effect. If you're currently lapsed, now is the best time to reactivate and set up auto-renewal to lock in the $99 rate permanently.

Stay Listed. Stay Verifiable. Stay Active.

$99/year keeps your credential current, your profiles visible on both ibbfa.org and BarreWorkout.com, and your availability in front of studios looking to hire.
