How it works

A seat is a permanent training slot in the Certified Barre Instructor program. You decide who sits in it. Every person who certifies through it earns a credential that is theirs for life.

STEP 1

Buy your seats

$599 per seat, minimum three. Your first instructor's full CBI enrollment is included in each seat.

STEP 2

Assign an instructor

They receive complete curriculum access and sit the standard written exam and live practical evaluation.

STEP 3

They earn the credential

On passing, the certification is issued to them personally, listed in the public registry, permanent and non-revocable.

STEP 4

If they move on

The seat reverts to your studio, whether they finished training or not. You never pay again for someone who left.

STEP 5

Reassign for $249

Your next hire steps into the seat with fresh, full program access and their own exam attempts.

What you save when someone leaves

Think of seats as churn insurance. It costs nothing extra to have. It pays every time you need it.

$350 back

in your studio's pocket, every time you replace an instructor. Full price is $599. Your seat reloads for $249.

Instructors you replacePaying full price each timeWith your seatYou keep
1$599$249$350
3$1,797$747$1,050
5$2,995$1,245$1,750
Replacing 5 instructors, paying full price each time
$2,995
Replacing 5 instructors with your seat
$1,245

Your first instructor costs $599 either way. Savings start the day someone leaves.

The $99 a year per seat is the same renewal your instructor would pay on their own. With a seat, your studio holds it, so the training benefits stay with your studio.

Every seat is $599 at every package size. Bigger packages earn more included value, never a different seat price.

Buying ahead is free to hold: a seat's $99 yearly license starts only when you first assign it. Free first-year licenses apply per seat, whenever each one is filled.

Included Specialties and the Principal upgrade are one-time, usable on any Active team members, together or separately, within 24 months.

The Principal upgrade ($898 value) is earned, never granted: your instructor completes CBI, one year of teaching, and a live Board Review.

Reassigning a seat never resets its billing date, and an empty seat pauses at its anniversary until you fill it again.

Trained once vs. trained all year

Many certifications end when the certificate prints. Your seat keeps working, class after class, all year long.

A typical certificate

  • Train once, get a certificate, done
  • Often no live teaching test at all
  • Usually no ongoing education after that
  • The paper leaves when the instructor does

An IBBFA seat

  • A live practical evaluation, in real time, with a real evaluator, before they teach your members. Never a homework video.
  • Live webinars and continuing education all year, so their classes keep getting better
  • A public registry listing your members and hires can verify
  • The seat stays with your studio, no matter who comes or goes

The Instructor Pledge

  1. Any credential you earn through a studio seat is yours, personally and permanently. It cannot be revoked, reassigned, or held by any employer.
  2. If you leave, you keep your certification. You may continue your Active status personally at $99 per year, with a 60-day grace window and no penalty, no back payments, and no re-examination, ever.
  3. If you leave before completing your training, your progress is preserved for 12 months. Finish independently at the standalone exam rate of $299, or complete under another studio's seat: access follows the seat, and progress follows the person.
  4. The seat, the studio-paid renewal, and the roster benefits belong to the studio. Your credential and your registry identity belong to you.
  5. Seat assignment carries no tenure condition, no repayment obligation, and no restriction on where you may work.

Published here because it is the point. Instructors sign this acknowledgement at every seat assignment.

When an instructor moves on

  • The seat and its annual license stay with your studio, ready for the next hire.
  • Their credential stays with them, permanently, exactly as if they had paid for it themselves.
  • Their Active status transitions with a 60-day grace window; continuing it personally is a standard $99 per year, whenever they choose.
  • Left mid-training? Their progress is preserved for 12 months, and they can finish independently for $299 or under another studio's seat. Your studio owes nothing either way.
  • Your studio stops paying for anyone who is no longer on your roster. That is the entire design.

Studio Seat questions

Is this a transferable certificate?
No. Certifications are earned by, and belong to, the individual who passed the written exam and the live practical evaluation. What transfers is the seat: a permanent training slot that gives your next hire full access to complete the program and earn a credential of their own.
What happens when an instructor leaves?
The seat reverts to your studio immediately, whether they were mid-training or fully certified. They keep any credential they earned, receive a 60-day grace window on their Active status, and can continue it personally at $99 per year. You pay $249 whenever you are ready to load your next hire into the seat.
What if an instructor leaves before finishing their training?
The seat reverts to your studio immediately, and you owe nothing further for them. Their coursework progress is theirs, preserved for 12 months. They can finish independently at the standalone exam rate, $299, which restores full course access and includes the standard written exam and live practical attempts, or complete under another studio's seat, because access follows the seat and progress follows the person. The standard exam attempt policy applies across the combined enrollment.
What if I hire someone who is already IBBFA-certified?
No reassignment is needed. Your seat's annual license simply takes over their $99 Active renewal while they teach for you, and your roster verification includes them automatically.
What if I hire someone trained in another method?
The standalone Challenge Exam, $299, assesses their existing training against IBBFA standards through the same written exam and live practical evaluation. Once they pass, your seat's annual license can carry their Active status.
Do seats cover Principal Instructor?
Seats are CBI-level. Principal requires a year of professional experience and a Board Review, so it cannot be assigned to a new hire. A tenured instructor on your seat can upgrade at the standard $898 Principal Upgrade, billed to the studio if you choose, and Principal-level seats are under review.
My instructor's CBI already includes 2 years of Active status. Am I paying twice?
No, because the seat fee was never a renewal fee. Active status belongs to your instructor, and their included years run exactly as normal. The $99 is the seat's fee: it keeps the seat's reload rights live, runs your yearly roster check, and quietly picks up whatever renewal your instructor needs, whenever their included time ends. One fee, one date per seat, and never two bills for the same person.
Can we buy seats before we need them?
Yes, and it costs nothing to wait. A seat's $99 yearly license starts only when you first assign it to an instructor, so a growing studio can buy 3 or 5 seats today, fill two, and hold the rest until new hires arrive. Waived first-year licenses in seat packages apply per seat, whenever each one is filled.
Does a seat ever expire?
No. A seat is permanent while its $99 annual license is current. If the license lapses, the seat pauses, and reassignment rights resume as soon as it is brought current.
What does the $99 a year actually get us?
Live webinars and continuing education for your instructor all year, your studio's annual roster verification, the seat's reload rights, and whatever Active renewal your instructor needs while they sit in the seat. You are billed only while a seat is filled, on that seat's anniversary, and you will never see a separate renewal invoice for a seated instructor.
How do we buy seats?
Seats start at three and are arranged directly with our team: 3 seats for $1,797, 5 for $2,995, or 10 for $5,990, each seat always $599 with bigger packages earning more included savings. Call 1-888-365-2008, or send your studio name and instructor headcount through our contact page, and we will set your seats up the same week.

Own the seats. Your instructors own their credentials.

Three seats gets your studio started, and every hire after that steps into training your studio already owns.
