What Is IBBFA Certification?

Since its inception in 2010, IBBFA has worked to create a set of quality and safety standards that all barre fitness programs and those who teach should meet in order to provide a safe, high-quality, fun experience for students learning and practicing barre training.  The IBBFA Certification is a standardized measure that demonstrates an instructor’s core competencies in barre education and technique, plus a commitment to excellence in the barre industry. IBBFA-Certified barre professionals consistently deliver the safest, most effective learning experience for their students.

Core Goals for Barre Training Programs

To recognize those programs and instructors who deliver on the promise and the potential for excellence in barre training, and to differentiate them from others who do not, IBBFA certification assesses each program in 3 fundamental areas:

  • Training should apply the latest scientific findings in kinesiology, biomechanics, and exercise science
  • Training should use proper form and technique to minimize the risk of injury to participants
  • Training should be effective and deliver optimum results for the time and effort invested
